Calendars

A calendar is a printed document with months, days and optionally other information (special days, moon phases, tides...).

It is valid throughout the year and is a very practical and effective tool to check dates, note down events, appointments or activities, making it widely used in homes and companies, not only for its decorative nature, but also for being very useful and practical.

You could say that printing calendars is one of the most economical and effective ways to reinforce a brand image.

Format

There are different types of calendars and multiple formats and measurements for them. These are the most common types of calendar:

  • Pocket Calendar: Similar to a business card, although somewhat larger, it can have rounded edges. In general, they have an image on the front and the calendar on the back.
  • Desktop Calendars: There are several types: Simple, triangle-shaped, with wire-o (composed of several sheets and a base), pyramid, ...
  • Wall Calendars: They can be of different shapes (with or without flap, bound with wire-o...)
  • Calendars with Staple: It is also a wall calendar. It is manufactured as if it was a stapled magazine and then a hole is made to hang it on the wall.
  • Weekly diary calendars: In different formats, they are generally blocks of 52 pages (one per week) and allow notes to be made on them like a weekly diary.
  • Special Calendars: Calendars are made in special shapes. Using custom dies to achieve a calendar with an original, fun shape or simply to offer something different that attracts attention.
Printing

Calendars are generally printed on both sides and in any of the ways listed below:

  • colour (four-colour)
  • in black
  • in two colours
  • in Pantone colours
  • a combination of all of them

In some circumstances, Pantone colours or special inks are used to be able to extend the range of colours and to attract attention with bright colours or simply to adapt to the corporate colours of the corresponding company.

On the other hand, on many occasions the printing of the product is complemented with additional effects such as plastic-coating on the sheets or the use of effects such as UV varnish / drip off varnish, to highlight a part of the images, gold or silver stamping, etc.

Medium

We can print calendars on any paper available from those on the market. Although the most common type of paper is coated - both gloss and matte.

Offset paper and recycled paper are also a fairly popular medium in this type of product.

In addition to these, there are other speciality papers to consider for their originality, which we can choose in order to print on a different medium.

The bases for some types of calendars are usually printed and manufactured in cardboard for its sturdiness, strength and durability.

Tips

It is advisable to study the format and size of the calendar well. We must use appropriate formats for the use that we will give the calendar. A calendar in a format that is too small will be illegible if hung on a wall and one that is too large is not useful for placing on a desk.

Try, as much as possible, to get away from the standard and design original or different calendars because they work best as a marketing tool. If a calendar is original and practical, it is more likely that our customers will keep it all year.

At the design level we advise:

  • Highlighting corporate colours.
  • Developing a story or maintaining the same design line on all pages of the calendar.
  • Making use of original photos and illustrations that attract attention.
  • Using high quality images and a theme according to the design.
  • Highlighting your product or service somewhere on the calendar.
  • Do not forget the practical side. It has to be a readable, useful calendar and be practical.
